Druk Path Trek is fairly short, easy trekking and hiking holidays. Trail passes through natural green landscape of blue pine forests, high ridges and pristine lakes. Offers stunning views of highest virgin peak, Mt. Gangkar Puensum, opportunity to visit ancient Lhakhangs, Dzongs and villages. March -June and September -November are best times.

Gangkar Puensum is strong candidate for the highest unclimbed mountain in the world mainly because it is situated in the border of Tibetan Autonomous Region of China and the Kingdom of Bhutan.

Trip Overview

Ten days visit to Bhutan with finest three nights short trek in Bhutan which connects the Thimpu Valley with Paro Valley. Druk Path Trek leads through ancient trading route, over high mountain passes and provides the opportunity to visit ancient Lhakhangs, Dzongs and countryside of Bhutan. The trek starts with drive from hotel to Ta Dzong and trek to Damchena Village in Paro, runs on the mountains between Paro and Thimphu. Simkota Tsho (4110m) and Phume La Pass (4210m) are two high passes to cross during the trek with 4110m is the highest camp where we sleep. With 11KM average walking distance in 5 hours walking time. Mount Jumolhari (7326m), Mount Jichu Drake (6989m) and Gangkar Puensum (7570m).

Program

Day 01: Fly to Paro (2200m), 1 Hr. Drive to Haa (2670m) 2 Hrs.
Nepal, India, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand are six countries that Druk Air (national carrier) and Bhutanese Airlines (the only private airlines) operates regular flights to Paro as of now. The flight offers magnificent view of the Himalayan range including 8000M Mountains’ and takes us to Paro where our local staff will meet and transfer to the town for orientation with the place and people. After lunch, the 64KM Paro –Haa drives takes little more than two hours on Bondey –Haa Highway over the Chele La Pass (3880m), the highest motorable pass in Bhutan. Chele La is picturesque Pass offers magnificent view of Mt. Jomolhari (7326m) as well as lush forests, waterfalls, grazing yaks and sweeping vistas. The descending drive to Haa Valley takes another an hour (27KM). We arrive to the town, have a dinner and got to bed early at the Bhutanese farmhouse.

Day 02: Visit the town. Drive to Thimpu (2334m)
Wake up early in the morning to observe the morning life of Bhutanese people as they are morning people.
Day 03: Drive to Punakha (1242m)
Day 04: Drive to Paro (2200m)
Day 05: Taktsang Hike (3120m).
Day 06: Drive to Ta Dzong, trek to Jele Dzong (3400m)
Day 07: Trek to Jangchub Lhakhang  or Jangchulakha (3770m)
Day 08: Trek to Tshelepang
Day 09: Trek to Tsalu Ney, drive to Thimpu
Day 10: Drive to Paro, fly out from Bhutan
